Teaching Shops Of Medicine

Outlook’s cover story is my investigation into the market of medical education in India- where students pay crores for ghost colleges, fraud faculty and fake patients. The system has failed “to produce a competent basic doctor,” said the Supreme Court in May. As 8000 new MBBS seats have been opened up this year, are these students going to come out competent, as the Supreme Court hopes, or are they heading to teaching shops instead?
