New Delhi, India: I was selected to attend a week-long workshop organised by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, on climate-change journalism. It was conducted by the head of their AlertNet news website, Laurie Goering, and Nitin Sethi, Senior Assistant Editor at The Hindu. The attendees included journalists from around India. Over five days we were trained in various climate issues, including multiple ways of approaching climate stories, the politics of international negotiations and understanding technical aspects of climate science. Along with this, we were coached in several journalistic exercises from writing leads and headlines, to sourcing, to writing full fledged complex stories.
